Ze leidde hem niet alleen naar de muziek, maar ook naar de wetenschap. Zo behaalde hij een masterdiploma in de biologie en antropologie. Muziek leerde hij daarentegen grotendeels op eigen kracht, gedreven door een niet-aflatende drang om te creëren, experimenteren en spelen.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Voor Toon zijn muziek en natuur nooit twee aparte werelden geweest. Met dezelfde verwondering luistert hij naar een vlucht kraanvogels als naar een melodie die zich onverwacht aandient. Die fijngevoeligheid en ontvankelijkheid kenmerken zijn hele manier van leven en spelen. En dat spelen en experimenteren doet hij het liefst met gelijkgestemden.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Samenwerking loopt als een rode draad door zijn leven. In groepen als Naragonia, Naragonia Quartet, Hot Griselda, Novar en Tal en Thee, en in zijn werk met onder meer Reineke Van Hooreweghe, Olle Geris, Maarten Decombel en Begijn Lebleu, vond hij niet alleen muzikale partners, maar ook duurzame vriendschappen die hem blijven uitdagen en inspireren.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Een belangrijke stap in zijn artistieke ontwikkeling kwam er dankzij Jochen Smets en Begijn Lebleu. Hun vertrouwen en scherpe blik moedigden hem aan om de verbinding tussen muziek en natuur niet langer als een persoonlijke fascinatie te zien, maar als een volwaardige artistieke richting. Die wisselwerking wil hij de komende jaren nog sterker centraal stellen in zijn werk.\u003C\u002Fp>","\u003Cp>Als componist schreef Toon de voorbije jaren muziek voor de meest uiteenlopende projecten: van folkmuziek en polyfone zangstukken tot filmische muziek voor theater. Hij componeerde het grootste deel van het repertoire van Naragonia, Novar en Hot Griselda, schrijft al meer dan tien jaar de muziek voor alle producties van Tal en Thee en werkte mee aan muziek voor WWF. Veel van zijn composities vonden hun weg naar muzikanten en ensembles binnen en buiten Europa en groeiden uit tot hedendaagse folkstandards. Daarnaast is hij te horen op meer dan veertig albums.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Ook als lesgever deelt Toon zijn ervaring graag met anderen. Hij is een veelgevraagd docent op stages en in academies in binnen- en buitenland. It led him not only to music, but also to science, earning him master's degrees in Biology and Anthropology. Music, on the other hand, is largely self-taught, driven by an enduring desire to create, experiment and perform.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp class=\"p1\">For Toon, music and nature have never been separate worlds. He listens to the flight of cranes with the same sense of wonder as he does to a melody that unexpectedly emerges. This sensitivity and openness shape both his life and his music. Many of his compositions have found their way into the repertoires of musicians and ensembles across Europe and beyond, with several becoming modern folk standards.
